Mount Merapi, is a conical volcano in Central Java, Indonesia. It is the most active volcano in Indonesia and one of the famous active  Volcano's in the world
Merapi  has erupted regularly since 1548. Its name means Mountain of Fire. It is very close to the city of Yogyakarta, and thousands of people live on the flanks of the volcano.

The picture was taken from my friend house 'Ipoh'  who's place so close from merapi area in Klaten and My friend and her family alwys get the evacuation to safety place if the Mount Merapi indicated getting eruption. In this pict. Mount Merapi  has indicated medium-term all activities " Aktif Normal ( Normal active"  (6th June 2006)

I like this photo too, Dudee. Is this the volcano that I heard about -- nearby villagers were encouraged to leave their homes due to increasing volcano activity?

yes indeed, the volcano still active until now, but in the differnt level secure, definitely can caused eruption every time, so the Local goverment alwys monitored the activities of Mount Merapi.
